Prom is all about making great memories. But if you don't prepare, then your big night can be ruined in an instant. From a rip in your dress to a missing cuff link, you need to be prepared for it all by doing a final check. It's also important to get your mind and body ready too.

Pre-Party Beauty Rituals

Prom is all about the pre-party. Whether this is your first prom or your last, you want to ensure that everything is perfect for the coming day. This starts with you. Getting yourself ready is important to make sure that you don't have any prom disasters.

Mani/Pedi

Whether you are getting your nails professionally done or not, you can have a little mani/pedi party for yourself. This will ensure that your fingers and toes are perfect for the coming day. If you are going with the home prom nails, make sure to get a polish that will hold up. And don't skimp on the toes, especially if you have open-toed shoes.

Spot Treatment

Whether you decide to do a face mask or just pay attention to trouble spots, you want to take care of your skin to make sure it is flawless tomorrow. No one wants to wake up with a Rudolf nose on the big day. Zap zits and other blemishes before they can ruin your time. And if you're a little too late, prepare makeup that will ensure your skin looks flawless.

Tan Touch-Up

If you choose to use a spray-tan, then you'll want to look out for areas that might be fading. You can quickly touch these up before looking like a cheetah tomorrow. However, make sure that you don't touch up too much. Just in case, you might want to have some sun-tan remover on hand.

Shaving

This might seem like one of those 'duh' moments, but you'd be surprised the number of people that forgot to shave their budding mustache or missed one arm pit. Pay special attention to grooming and shaving so you aren't one of those statistics.

Hair Treatment

Whether you are a girl or a guy, your hair is going to go through a lot of trouble tomorrow. Pay special attention to it the night before with extra conditioning or even a deep treatment. This will get it prepared for the chemical warfare coming.

Check Your Outfit

Do you have your cuff links? Are your shoes polished? Is your dress wrinkle free? These are the things that you want to check the night before. You don't want to unzip your dress to find out it has a tear or that you're missing your tie. This includes giving your shoes and accessories a quick look.

Double Check Reservations

If you have a limo or reservations at a restaurant, give them a call. Double check the times and locations again to make sure that everything is running smoothly. You don't want to be waiting for your limo only to realize that it's coming in a half hour. If you made hotel reservations, you'll want to double check these as well. Just a quick look at your online reservations is all you need.

Confirm Flowers

Did you get a boutonniere or a corsage for your date? If so, confirm with the florist that it will be ready on time. And if you forgot, well a lot of places can take an order the night before.

Get Cash

Between your hair appointment, picking up the flowers, or waiting for the limo, finding an ATM or getting money from your parents might not be all that convenient. Make sure you have cash on hand and waiting for the events tomorrow. You don't want to figure out that you forgot when it's time to pay for the meal. And having emergency cash is never a bad thing.

Pack Your Bags

Are you going to carry just your wallet? Will you have a small purse? Whatever the case, you need to make sure you have your tickets, cash, card, etc. all ready and waiting. How embarrassing would it be to have your parents run you your tickets or have to turn around? Make sure you have all the essentials.

Overnight Bag

If you are staying out, then you will need an overnight bag with your clothes, toiletries and whatever else you need for your big night. Having a checklist and making sure you packed everything can make sure you aren't leaving the hotel with one sock.

Survival Kit

Many teens might not think a survival kit is necessary for prom but what if you lose a nail or an eyelash falls off. Having a survival kit can save you some heartache down the line. A survival kit might include:

  • Advil or Tylenol
  • Toothbrush
  • Extra nails
  • Glue
  • Extra lashes
  • Deodorant
  • Razor
  • Condoms
  • Lotion
  • Extra earrings, necklace

Grab Extra Shoes

Those shoes that you rented with our tux or those glamorous, glittery heels probably won't make it for all that you have planned. Grabbing a pair of extra shoes to wear at the prom or even after can save you and your feet a lot of heartache.

Try Out Your Look

It never hurts to give your look a once over the night before. This can ensure that the hair you are planning to do by yourself will actually work out or that your tux isn't too short. It can also give you an idea of how much time you're going to need tomorrow to get ready. This can help you plan accordingly.

Confirm With Friends

Make sure that you know what time you are going to your friend's house for pictures or when you're all going to meet the limo. Make sure that everyone is on the same page and expect that some of your friends are going to be late. This is a given.

Get a Good Night's Rest

Getting a good night sleep and eating a healthy and energizing meal the night before can't be ignored. Think of this as prepping for a big game. You want your mind and body to be ready to make memories that will last a lifetime.

Prepare, Prepare, Prepare

Sometimes great memories just happen. But when it comes to prom, it's all about the preparation. You need to be prepared for anything and everything that might ruin you big day. Therefore, checking everything the night before is key.
