Many girls get anxious asking a guy to prom because they think it means that they are confessing their true feelings for him. This is not always the case; if you are friends with the guy and you don't want anything further, asking him shouldn't put too much pressure on you. Simply ask him who he is going with or who he would like to go with. If he doesn't have a date yet or doesn't have an interest in going with anyone, tell him that you are in the same situation. Either you can follow this up with an invitation to go with you, or you can wait to see if he takes the bait and invites you to go with him.
